The new GLOBUS software is a scalable system for decoding and passing on approximately 250 000 meteorological messages daily.

All meteorological codes (FM 12, 15, 16, 35, 86, 88 etc.) are suitable as input formats. The modular structure also allows the implementation of special codes, which are defined for specific tasks.

The output format is not dependent on the format of the input. Any message in an acceptable format can be transformed to any implementable output format. Basic output formats are FM 94 BUFR and FM 92 GRIB.

The introduction of new formats, such as developed in 2002 at the meetings of the COMMISSION FOR BASIC SYSTEMS of the WMO, is fully supported by the modular software architecture of GloBUS.
